About the conference
The Lichtenburg 100 Centenary Conference commemorates a century since the 1926 discovery of alluvial diamonds north of Lichtenburg, a find that sparked the Bakerville diamond rush and helped shape South Africa’s modern geological understanding of alluvial deposits.
Two full days of programme
Keynote lectures from De Beers, Wits, UNISA, CGS, and University of Stellenbosch. Research presentations spanning spectroscopic diamond analysis, geophysical exploration, structural controls, and the ongoing story of alluvial diamond origins.
Poster session & exhibition
Day 1 closes with a poster session and sponsor exhibition (16:00 – 18:30). Day 2 continues with additional keynotes and closes with a discussion on depositional models plus field-trip arrangements.
